BROWN - Grimes County, Texas to Labette County Kansas
My great-grandmother, Charity Brown, migrated to Labette County in a covered wagon with a group of Exoduster families from Grimes County, Texas. She settled in Oswego in 1880 then moved to Parsons in 1905. Associated families in the area are Mulkey and Ratcliff.
COKER - Marion County, Arkansas, Joplin, Missouri
My great-grandfather, George W. Coker was born circa 1856, probably in Marion County in the Union Township/Yellville area. He and his family lived in the area until around 1909. They moved to Joplin, MO in time for the 1910 census. I also have a particular interest in the second daughter, Myrtle, who I haven't found in any records since her father's 1942 obituary.
STINNETT - Marion County, Arkansas, Oklahoma
My great-grandmother was Anna (Annie/Mary Ann) STINNETT. Anna's two brothers Thomas and John married the sisters, Lettie and Lizzie, of her husband, George.
WATKINS - Mountain Home, Arkansas, Carthage, Missouri
Emmet Price Watkins was married to George and Annie's oldest daughter, Maud. I can find Price before his marriage but nothing but a marriage record between 1880 and 1910.
ROBINSON - Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas
Great-grandfather, Isaiah ROBINSON. The only documentation I can find on him appears in a family bible and on a death certificate for an infant death. He was married to Arminta NORVELL. My grandfather was Charles Milton ROBINSON.
NORVELL - Georgia, Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas
The family story is that the NORVELLs were brought to Texas by their owner, who having fled Georgia after committing a murder, later became a sheriff in Williamson County, Texas. Documentation is thus far lacking on this oral history.
VANHOOSE (VAN HOOSE)- Fayette County, Alabama, Williamson County, Texas
The VANHOOSES are the maternal ancestors of my grandmother, Wiley Mae MCCLAIN.
MCCLAIN - South Carolina, Liberty Hill, Texas
Great-grandfather, Wiley MCCLAIN was from South Carolina. He married Louisa VANHOOSE.
I am also trying to document COKER and STINNETT connections to families in Springfield, MO.
